The History Of Minecraft

Minecraft-creeper-face

Minecraft is one of the most popular games in the world. In order for you to understand this better in why it is one of the most popular games, I will provide you with the history of the game.

Minecraft is a sandbox type of game. You, as a player, start out in a randomly generated world that is infinite in any way you go so you can always explore and find new things. Each world is made with biomes such as mountains, forests, caves, plains, and oceans. The world is made up of blocks that you can break, place, move, or build with. It has a day and night cycle, and each has different difficulty levels, and depending on the difficulty level, you have to eat food and protect yourself from monsters. Each player will have a different experience of the game, and if you’re a player that likes to build, then you can do that, and if you like to have that experience of having to survive, then there is that option to do that.

Minecraft was programmed by a programmer named Markus “Notch.” The reason the name Notch is in quotes is because he is the first God of Minecraft. He was a game developer, and he started working on a game of his own, and he made prototypes when he was not working. He made the first version of Minecraft during a weekend in early May 2009. Minecraft was initially released to the public on May 17, 2009. The first version of minecraft was called Java Edition. After the release of the game, the game started to get more popular after a couple of months, and during that time, Minecraft got a couple of updates.

Notch started only working on Minecraft and quit his daytime job so he had more time to work on Minecraft. After some time he founded a now legendary video game company called Mojang, and at this time the game was getting a lot of new mods, items, blocks, and mechanics; they also added the most loved mode called Survival Mode.

The world of minecraft expanded beyond the game through videos first. People for fun make videos out of Minecraft: what they do in the game, animations, tutorials, etc. Since then, it has expanded to music and books, too. People have been making music and writing books inspired by Minecraft; for example, there was a book written by Max Brooks called “Minecraft, The Island.”

The first Minecraft tournament happened back in November 2019. There are tournaments for building, PVP(player vs. player), parkour, and just for fun; there are some tournaments that if you win you will get a prize, and people make videos and stream Minecraft game play on platforms like Youtube, Twitch, etc. Some of today’s biggest gaming influencers use Minecraft to exert themselves on their channels, to gather and sustain viewers. Minecraft has helped hundreds of gamers grow in viewers and make their channels bigger than ever before.

Mojang and the ownership of Minecraft’s intellectual property was bought by Microsoft in the year 2017. Minecraft was getting a lot of new mods, items, blocks, mechanics, areas, structures, and boss fights. So now the question is what does the future of Minecraft have in store for us?
